There have been many technological advances made in history, but the most important and beneficial to society is the invention of the computer. Without the computer, everything would need to be stored and written by hand. Because of our ability to store information in computers, we have increased productivity. Frequently updated news and entertainment are also a benefit to society. Having constantly updated news and entertainment allows everyone to get the same information immediately. Finally, the computer provides us with a much easier way of personal communication. Without this form of communication, information between individuals would travel much more slowly. The computer is very beneficial to us today and will continue to provide us with more information and updates to help us in the future.

The computer is one of the most important technological advances in history because it has increased the productivity of workers today. Before the computer, ideas had to be either hand written or typed on a typewriter. Those are both slower processes that do not come close to the quickness of using a computer. Computers are well rounded machines that allow us do many things we need to get done at work such as organization. For example, we have programs today that can take data, interpret it, and analyze it. This is very beneficial for students at school and businesses that need to file important information. Unlike typewriters or handwritten products, the computer also provides tools that will make your work better and will eliminate mistakes. Computers are very useful today in the working and education fields.

Without the computer, we would not be provided with readily available news and entertainment. Having this benefit, we are able to receive the same information from the same sources consistently. Without this information provided, we would not always have universal and constant up to date news. Although television provides us with news, it is only at scheduled times whereas the computer can give you information at any time of day. We are also provided with information on almost any given topic. This benefits everyone. For example, students often need to look up information for school reports and the most popular choice for them is to use the computer. Since it is constantly updated, it is the most reliable research source when used properly. Using the computer is also the quickest way to find your information.

The computer also provides us with an extremely quick way to communicate with one another. Instead of handwriting a letter and then sending it through the mail, we have the option of e-mail and Instant Messenger programs. Sending a handwritten letter will usually take several days or more where an email or an Instant Message will only take seconds to reach the receiving end. This is another feature of computers that benefits all of society. For example, businesses are able to send out important messages to everyone at once instead of contacting each person individually. Families are able to stay in touch easily in spite of distance. Certain schools have gone paperless by issuing laptops to students. It is plain to see the impact that computers have made on communication today.

In every aspect of our lives, the computer is present. From our home to our job to the grocery store, computers are helping us everyday in life. It is difficult to imagine the world today without computers. There are many tasks we take for granted today that are done on the computer. We use our computers at work to better compete in the business world. We are able to receive news and entertainment at any time, anywhere. Having the benefit of sharing information within seconds has enhanced our communication. It is easy to see how the computer is the most beneficial advance in technology today.
