“Great thoughts speak to thoughtful minds, but great actions speak to all humankind.”
“Great thoughts speak to thoughtful minds, but great actions speak to all humankind.” It is easy to say that actions speak louder than words. To say something is one thing, but to actually take the lead and step up is a different story. Many great change agents have done more than just spoken to a crowd of people. They have fought for what they believe is right and more importantly, for what would benefit other people significantly. People in society today can also greatly impact other people by following through with what they say and actually showing what they can do. If more people would act instead of just speaking about changing the world and society, the world would already be different.
In history, many great historical figures have acted out rather than just speaking about it. One example is Rosa Parks. Rosa Parks decided the way she and other African-Americans were being treated on Public transportation was unacceptable. She took a chance for herself and others like her, and there were of course, consequences. But, what Rosa Parks did changed everything for the way African Americans are treated in public places today. No matter how big or small the problem, if you think you’re being treated unjustly, you will do so much for yourself if you take a chance and act rather than just sitting back and thinking about it. Chances are, you aren’t the only person who feels that way.
In our society today, many people would like to see a change in our economy and in their own personal lives as well. To make a change, we don’t need to stand around with our hands in our pockets but rather step up and take action. Take something simple, such as helping a neighbor, or something major, like coming up with a plan to benefit your community. When you take the steps to make changes for the better more and more people are willing to help you and they will trust you to follow through. This process will help us to all tolerate each other much, much better than we already do.
Taking a step towards what you want to achieve will help yourself and it will help others. Sometimes the best feeling is to not only get something out of a situation for yourself but to also see that you are helping others and making life easier for them. In the future, we would have less problems if we reached out and helped each other rather than just complaining about what needs to be done. If we want to see a change, we need to make a change. To make this change, we can begin to help each other and all get on the same page about what needs to be done. Once this happens, the world will honestly be a better and more pleasant place to be.
It is easy to see that actions speak much louder than words. Without actions, history would have been a completely different story and our lives as we know it would also be drastically different. People would not have the same rights and equality that they do today if it were not for great icons of history that have changed situations for the better for everybody. When we begin to learn that it is alright to take the lead and challenge ourselves and others to do what is right, that is when the truth behind the saying “great thoughts speak to thoughtful minds, but great actions speak to all humankind.” really comes through.
